Barely a thousand people are registered in the Toledo town of Castillo de Bayuela, a municipality that over the last twelve years has jumped onto the national and international scene with its 'Deza de Poesía' contest. And in its 2023 edition, nearly 400 works from various countries have been presented.
According to the president of the Organizing Committee, Felipe Pulido, the jury has had to carry out a great selection task since works have been presented from countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Peru, United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia Phone Number Data or Brazil , among others. The international participation increases edition after edition, we would be talking about approximately a hundred works from other places outside of national territory," he details.
The winner will receive a financial prize of 250 euros and the 'Deza' ceramic prize, designed by Lucas Fernández and the work of Mónica García del Pino, great-granddaughter of Ruíz de Luna. For its part, the winner of the local category will receive the emblematic statuette of the awards. According to the mayor of this small Toledo town, Gregorio García, this contest "is a commitment to culture."
The winning works of the XII edition of these awards will be announced this Saturday, August 19, in a gala that will begin at 10:30 p.m. and will take place in the Plaza de la Constitución. The awards will be presented in an event presented by journalist Silvia Barquilla, presenter on Digital Television of Madrid, who received the Radio Television Award for Best Interview Presenter in 2022, awarded by the Gala Acción Social Foundation. The event will be entertained by the singer Jesús Salas, who will pay tribute to Nino Bravo and Camilo Sesto at different times of the night.
The jury for this edition is made up of professor Javier Fernández del Moral; the Commissioner for Attention to Victims of Terrorism of the Community of Madrid and Torrijeña poet, Rocío López; the actor, poet and professor of Theater and Cinematographic Performances, Antonio San Miguel; the professor and poet Vicente Magaña; the historians, poets, Favorite Daughters of Castilla-La Mancha and university professors, the sisters Laura and María Lara; the member of the Society of Friends of the Sierra de San Vicente, Tirso Barroso; and the poet Rafael Coronado.
